I was just thinking on the above question...what I am doing..? i got so many answers that: i am a software engg, and leading a life, i am son of my parents looking after them, brother for my sister/brother who is taking care of them, i am an Indian & i am citizen of this and so on we can add 100 things on to this.
And when i think all these things i realized that, its just the world that i have created, i have created all this relationships & i am playing this game with the rules of it, so these are all my relationship to the outside world, which gives me an identity that i am so & so.
But what i am doing..? I am an engineer (or whatever) and hence i must earn a livelihood or society expects it of you, that’s form of
compulsion; because of compulsion although we are ambitious of we are doing something we will do things because of some compulsion, we will go to office because of some compulsion, we earn because of some compulsion, we marry because of some compulsion, we will become responsible because of some compulsion...it goes on till the end, these compulsions are the power to do something better than anybody else. I think this constant endeavor
to be something, to become
something, is the real cause for all our struggles. And the driving force behind this is "Ambition", Ambition is really a form of power, the desire for power over myself and
over others. there is a sense of comparison;
We have heard people say that, without ambition, we cannot do anything.
In our schools we encouraged by our parents, teachers or others to compete, to be better than somebody else., same in case of our social life, in profession , in our relationship with each other,
in anything we do in life, we feel that ambition is necessary to
achieve a certain end, To achieve an end, to have the drive we will struggle, there is this constant struggle. What happens in this process is that we will lost.., we will start our life from nothing and by all these "Ambition" we become something but still we feel we are some thing else or we may feel we are missing some thing....Because you want to achieve an end, you become thoughtless, we are so busy in this unending race that we will dont even think why we are doing all this...And that is what we call living.
Is there a different way of doing things without ambition, a different
way of living, acting, building, inventing, without this struggle of
competition in which there is cruelty and which ultimately ends in war within our-self. I think there is a different way, But that way requires doing something
contrary to all the established customs of thought. When we are seeking a
result, the important thing is the result, not the thing we do, in
itself.

Hey Dude,i don't agree with u .u have written as if you were not allowed to do ,what you wanted.
Try to do things with 'interest' and u can c the difference ,u will surely not struggle to achieve.
@ Shriki: Naveen is not complaining or something... he is asking himself a question, which everyone will ask themselves at some point of life.
For eg. how many of the Software engineers have actually done BE in ISE or CSE???
how many of them Who did ISE and CSE had take PCMC in PUC????????
Parents wanted children to be engineers... and during 2002 ISE was the last department to be filled (cos of the down side in IT)
most of them took it as they did not get into MECH or EEE/ECE
After 4 years they attended walkins and off campus only because they were available to them and they did not know what else to do... and all the other department students also attended as they did not know what else was available to them.. They wanted to earn so they wrote the tests..
if they actually wanted to be in the IT field they wud have taken PCMC in PUC and then Taken ISE/CSE in BE Like me.. however I showed more interest in practical subjects and not on theoritical subjects
But what is my fate??????????
I know I will get a high paying job rite away if i put fake experience and there are more than a 1000 ways to get a fake certificate (I myself have helped ma frnds in that)
in all the interviews I have cleared all rounds but the last one. I can give the HRs the fancy answers they want to hear and impress them (u all know I can do that)but I give the recruiters the truth, but they dont want to hear that.
Everything comes down to "what are we doing" to me, to u, to the recruiters and to all
so if u see it as he was not allowed to do what he wants then that is ur perspective. I want a normal world.. In the act of making this world a better place they are making it abnormal.
@ Naveen: I am doing what u call as "contrary" and may not be as happy as I want to be...
But am not cribbing abt work life like all our engineer pals..
But bro.. Ppl dont appreciate what is out of the routine.. They think I too shud be in
the rat race... I live my life beyond compulsion like u put it
I too have an ambition... its not something that is to be achieved..
mine ambition is just "to be better" and this is a recursive ambition
Very nice thought provoking post mate
When u say that all those eminent people have inspired your life! What have you done with your life after you were inspired by them. Have u achieved something special? If not then u shouldn't be saying that you have been inspired by them!
To be successful personally and professionally, you need to improve your thoughts on how you look at life and what you want to achieve that makes you realize that "Yes i have achieved". Looking at your write ups, i believe you have been made to follow rules which you don't like but still follow to please someone.
The mix off all is all called life. If you are frustrated and want to give up just because you are facing difficulties then you will never be able to achieve anything. People fall again and again, but the courage is to get up and face the challenges.
